Various old time radio commercials from Mr. F. Le Mur Collector at archive.org

and this great compilation “Crime Jazz: Music in the First Degree” that I picked up from a library sale 8 years ago.

We wrote our script in bits and pieces on a googledoc and sort of came across our plot by accident during class when we were supposed to be listening to 5 minute segments this past Thursday. A happy accident.

We recorded the voices around the long table in the technologist office with one microphone in the middle. My voice was booming, so I had to lower it and raise the other members’s voices in “post production,” which took forever (8ish hours to put the whole thing together production wise? probably a good estimate.) I think that was really the only major hiccup. Otherwise I’m proud of how it turned out. If there is an award for old time radio dramas in this day and age, I feel like we are in the running.

This will probable be updated with more behind the scenes stuff.

    Andrew,

I have been meaning to comment here sooner, but time and the like, you know. Anyway, I was extremely impressed with your project from idea all the way to the final execution. To write terse, comic dialogue for a half hour is not easy, and to add the Noir genre bent to that as well is even more difficult. But I was blown away by how well your writing stood up over the entire episode. What’s more, the way you weaved your commercials and their intertextual comedy throughout the entire show was quite fun. I really think their is a much bigger skit/show going on here that you should explore, it is really remarkable stuff. Kudos.
